Established in 1978, our commitment to profitable growth and manufacturing excellence has transformed the company into one of the premier suppliers of thermoplastic seals in the world with several locations right here in the U.S. We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to help diagnose cause of malfunctions in industrial machines and adjust or install new parts to correct. Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems and institute corrective actions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following(other duties may be assigned): To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Inspect machinery and mechanical equipment for defects.
  • Investigate cause of mechanical and electrical failures of operating and maintenance equipment machinery, tools and parts, and recommend corrective measures to the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Plant Engineer.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to machinery and equipment.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, pulleys and other machine parts.
  • Clean and repair production tooling as requested.
  • Repair and/or make repair parts for equipment using hand tools and machine tools. Assemble and start machines to verify correction or malfunction.
  • Dismantle machines or equipment to gain access to defective parts.
  • Install electrical equipment and repairs or replace wiring and fixtures.
  • Ability to read Electrical Schematics and troubleshoot.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in AC/DC drives.
  • Understanding of process temperature controls.
  • Strong understanding/background in 24V DC, 120VAC, single phase, 220/240 VAC, 480 VAC, and 3 phase.
  • Investigate malfunctions of electrical components, such as starters, relays, fiber optics, photo-electrics, etc.
  • Ability to build/fabricate electrical boxes/controls.
  • Practice good housekeeping and safety rules.
  • Report suggested process improvements, safety hazards and equipment problems/breakdowns to the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Plant Engineer.
  • Responsible for maintaining maintenance manuals and reporting inventory usage.
  • Responsible for having adequate tools to perform job.
  • Utilize proper communication channel.
  • Perform such other duties and special assignments as requested by the Maintenance Supervisor or Plant Engineer.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees of organization. Ability to write reports and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, and other employees. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. EQUIPMENT USED Shop hand tools, shop power tools, drill press, end mill, lathe, milling machine, band saw, hand saw, welder, computer, V.O.M., vibration analyzer, tow motor and other general equipment.
